Raising the Gasoline Tax, especially when we saw $4 gas this summer and the economy is bad, is admittedly a difficult sell to the populus. But this is not because it doesn't make sense--it is because our politicians lack the fortitude to educate the general public on the necessity of this and to portray to the public that the funds can be trusted to be collected and used by the government efficiently. The current grant opportunity for small scale biofuels production in Virginia is $0.10 per gallon for all gallons over 2 million. The Bureau of Alcohol and Tobacco has 3 license tiers for producers: Under 10,000 gallons, 10,000-5000,000 gallons, and Over 500,000 gallons. We have apparently given big business a free pass on this bill and we need to correct the loophole and show serious support for renewable energy at every level. Mr. (3 votes) |

I suggest that the temperature levels in all of the government buildings I've used are set extremely cold. Tests have proven that colder work environments hamper or reduce productivity of any given worker. Therefore, temperatures should be raised on air conditioning levels by at least 3 degrees and the state government will not only save on energy but will reap in areas of a more productive workforce. As it is now many state employees have small heaters near their desks to stay warm which uses even more energy. Winter temperatures should be set accordingly. (19 votes) |
