Front License Plates

0

Eliminating the front license plates and stickers from vehicles would save, obviously, one half of the current state expense for these items.  I'm not suggesting a reduction in the registration fee(s), but simply do away with the front plate and sticker.  If memory serves me correctly, Virginia is one of only 4 to 5 states to use a front plate.  MD and DC do, but all our other neighboring states and beyond do not.  Having two plates for one vehicle makes no sense, the use one of the plates on an unregistered vehicle or affixing one set of the sticker to a dead tag runs rampant.  On a lesser note, if the front plate is eliminated, there are tax dollars to be made from the purchase of novilty tags the drivers would buy to reflect their interests, hobbies, etc.

One License Plate to save money

It'a about time Virginia came out of the stone ages, however it is unfair to those paying the renewal registration fee to pay the same amount for less. Afterall these people are over burdened taxpayers as well as SSDI and SSA recipients who are breaking themselves down,or done have being the reason they're on SSA and SSDI to begin with. I know the wife and I are two of them. I'm for doing away with the state inspection too since let's face it if the owner wants his/her investiment to last they will take care of it.  Afterall our neighboring states don't have inspection stickers. Tennessee for one.

Definitely!

I'm right there with you Shaman, for sure. It's ridiculous that Virginia has been stuck in the stone age for so long. I'm really glad they got it in gear. Amen.
