So here's my solution to the Illegal Immigration problem in the state of Virginia and the United States as a whole. Step 1: Offer a 6 month amnesty period to illegal immigrants, allowing them to complete an accelerated U.S. citizenship program during this time leading to legal status. Step 2: After the 6 month amnesty period passes, any business that is caught willfully employing illegal immigrants will be fined 75% of their net revenue for the year. (6 votes) |

Impose a term limit of no more than 2 terms on members of the House of Delegates. This will have a dual benefit of encouraging people to take part in our political process and ensuring that new and fresh ideas and perspectives are continually injected into the state government. (7 votes) |

Inmates in the prison system should be required to perform the following functions in order to repay their debt to society: 1. Grow their own food and sell the extra at local farmers markets with the revenue being injected into the DOC system. 2. There should be NO CABLE TELEVISION for inmates (in local jails AND state correctional centers). 3. Inmates should be REQUIRED to perform public services on a daily basis such as roadway trash pick-up, landscaping duties at colleges and universities, etc. (6 votes) |

We as a state should celebrate our heritage in the birth of our nation and Virginia as "the mother of presidents." That is a term that you never really hear in reference to Virginia anymore. If we teach the love of freedom and constitutionalism to our children, then they will always value their liberty. If not, it has been said that he who fails to study history is doomed to repeat it's mistakes. I do not want to repeat ANY mistake that could put freedom in danger. (4 votes) |

How about the State election commission not attempt to abridge freedom of speech by allowing voters to wear whatever campaign related clothing items they wish on election day? Under the existing law, you can be turned away from the polls if you attempt to vote wearing ANYTHING campaign related. This includes hats, buttons, shits, etc.. PROTECT YOUR FREEDOM! (5 votes) |

The Hampton Roads transportation issues can be solved through a cooperative effort between all area cities on an extensive train based mass transit system that ties all of the cities together with stops at every major economic/business center in each city. Further mass transit capabilities can be added through alternative fuel based HRT buses. The funding for the construction of the train system could be a cooperative tax between the cities of 3% on all consumer purchases, with the revenues going into a stable interest generating fund dedicated to constr (4 votes) |

So here's my idea to totally change not only the Virginia education system, but the American education system as a whole. (4 votes) |

So why don't we as a state, switch to a flat tax rate of 17.5% on all consumer puchases to provide all state revenue. This is the same system and tax rate that is already in practice in England. There it is referred to as the Value Added Tax or VAT for short. It is fiscally responsible and fair because it is the same rate for everyone. Additionally, it has the added benefit of allowing citizens to keep more of their paychecks. This would also dramatically reduce the size and expenditures of the state budget because it will allow us to do away with the Virginia (6 votes) |

In this time of revenue shortfall, why are we not collecting sales tax on internet and catalog sales from outside vendors? I think some states have aggressively pursued this and have been successful. If we need to set up a different system, why not do it and help us get out of this state deficit? (2 votes) |
