To reduce the price of gasoline for everyone, reduce the demand for gasoline and diesel. Immediately convert all City buses and State vehicles (other than police) to natural gas.

Every day, in my small town, I encounter people rushing through intersections, not paying attention, while talking on cell phones.  I have developed the habit of counting people talking on cell phones, passing through intersections, while I'm stopped at traffic lights.  I would estimate that forty to fifty percent of people have a phone to their ear.  Today, two people almost hit me while talking on cell phones.  If I hadn't been aware, they would have run into me.

This can save MORE than the dangerous mercury light bulbs.  These days, any Lowes or Home Depot can sell you a motion-sensing light switch which will turn the lights OFF after there has been no motion for a period of time.  NOTE that you can ADJUST the period of time.  (Anyone can do it.  You just lift up the cover and swivel a screw with a screwdriver.)  So there is NO reason for anyone to resist this.  The lights then come on again automatically when motion is detected (assuming the light is otherwise switched on).   All you have to do is turn off t

Vehicles that are farm use do not have to be licensed or inspected.  Safety concerns of uninspected vehicles on the highways.  Any vehicle that travels on the highway should be inspected and registered. There can be some reduction in the rates based upon the actual use of the vehicle. A large truck that only goes back and forth to sell produce/grains could have reduced rates.  However, a vehicle such as a pickup should be registered without reduction. I have seen "farm use" pickup truck deer hunting. 

With the possibility of "economic stimulus" funding from the federal government to states for infrastructure, use that opportunity to not only improve our roads, bridges, etc. but invest in alternative energy to heat/cool government institutions. This will save ongoing costs for the state, create more "green jobs", improve the environment, and set a good example for the rest of the country and our citizens.

A couple of states have already went to a 4-day work week, while others are submitting proposals to see if this is feasible or not.  Make it mandatory for all agencies.  Utah is saving 3 million a year.  Have you considered how much Virginia could save?  It would also cut down on the use of pool vehicles.  As high as gas prices are getting, we could use some sort of alternative work plan.

Why is Virginia behind every state in America when it comes to treating parents equally in Child Custody matters that involve two loving parents? Not step parents, not grand parents, but real parents. How come the Virginia court system is designed to auction off children to the high bidder, by granting custody of a child to who ever can pull in the most money in child support?

I know that the Car Tax was repealed in 1998, but I still pay a portion of what I would have owed except the State paid the rest. The State's burden is enourmous.

I suggest that the temperature levels in all of the government buildings I've used are set extremely cold. Tests have proven that colder work environments hamper or reduce productivity of any given worker. Therefore, temperatures should be raised on air conditioning levels by at least 3 degrees and the state government will not only save on energy but will reap in areas of a more productive workforce. As it is now many state employees have small heaters near their desks to stay warm which uses even more energy. Winter temperatures should be set accordingly.
