Lets think about this... The state has 90 days to pick up inmates from city jails who have been sentenced to 12 months or more in state prison. The state is intentionally leaving their inmates in the city jails and giving the cities $14.00 a day per inmate, when it costs $75.00 a day for the city to take care of them. This is causing overcrowding which causes danger to the Correctional Officers and other staff. Not to mention is draining the city tax payers. BUT at the same time, the State is contracting inmates from other states to rent space in Virginia prisons, for a fee of course...

I live in Hanover County, about 15 miles outside of Richmond. My neighborhood is over 300 houses, yet there is no recycling pickup for our development. Environmental responsibility has become a strong focus of many private and public agencies, yet many areas in Virginia are overlooking one of the basic principles of environmentalism, recycling.

Governor Kaine, Please consider offering early retirement options to State employees who are perhaps 18 months out from being eligible for retirement under current State laws. Many municipals have elected this option to realize significant savings. 2.5 Average: 2.5 (2 votes) |

Big solution for the state: Get Rid of State Income Tax Go to Sales Tax only for revenue, increase to 8-9%, put cap on it so state government cant get too greedy in the future, which we all know will happen. All the money that normally goes to the state for income tax, most people will spend it which will boost state economy. Business owners will relocate here to avoid tax in their state, with their relocation they will birng jobs. 2.473685 Average: 2.5 (19 votes) |

Suggestion: Introduce a bill requiring motorists who are stopped for using cell phones (not the hands-free phones) to surrender their phones until they pay the ticket. Also, you could require them to either appear in court to retrieve the phone or add an additional charge to mail the phone back to them. 2.6 Average: 2.6 (10 votes) |
