I don't play the VA lottery, every penny counts. To stimulate the economy why don't we have more winners in the lottery? Why can't we have a system that pays everyone who plays? One number you get this much, two numbers this much and so on. Why wait for the lottery to get to $160,000,000.00 to have one person or even 10 people win and still have a struggling economy, I don't get it I'm sure if everyone got a piece of the winnings, more people would play, I know I would. Thanks Darren C Wilson

If states funded a fixed length of time for maternity leave like almost every other nation, the wage gap would decrease, divorces would decrease, health issues would decrease for new mothers and babys as stress-related injuries and illnesses would decline, and perhaps most importantly, family structure would be preserved and new mothers would have time to bond with their new children setting a foundation of success that will pay dividends the rest of the child and family's lives. 3 Average: 3 (2 votes) |

One must be careful to ensure that no engines or transmissions that still contain oil are put in the ocean. However, many large items that take up space in landfills should instead be carefully planned out and placed in the Atlantic to create artificial reefs, which will eventually become overgrown with coral, and help promote marine life. Things like car frames, truck frames, etc. 4 Average: 4 (4 votes) |

With over 2 million people incarcerated in the United States, more than any nation in the world, I think its time for a change. I think it's time that we understand that the majority of those that are locked up will one day be free and LIVING AMONG US. I think its about time that we not only work on programs that will help them after release, but before release. We need to start programs that will get family members and friends involved. We need to start programs that are devoted to forming bonds with inmates and their families. Why don't these prisons have family day? 2.81818 Average: 2.8 (11 votes) |

Early voting would be a good idea this year and for years to come. This would cut down on long waits and any problems with running out of forms as happened in the primary voting. This would also be beneficial to seniors who are not disabled, but have back and knee problems and cannot stand for long periods. 3.11111 Average: 3.1 (9 votes) |

It may be too late know but if VA were to raise the gas tax slowly as gas prices continue to fall, we could increase revenue. It should only be raised by a fraction of the price decrease. For example, if the state average price falls 10 cents in a week, increase the gas tax by 5 cents. Residents would still see prices fall AND we would still recieve tax revenues. This money should be directly earmarked to benefit the city/county that it is collected in. For regions (i.e Hampton Roads, Northern VA, Richmond Area, etc), however, the money should benefit the region as a whole. 3 Average: 3 (9 votes) |

Make a 10 0r 12 hour schedule mandatory for all state agencies including higher education. This will reduce the # of days a week they are open and extend evening hours for other working class people to be able to make it in to conducte business. It also saves fuel by having people who have to travel in their personal or state vehicles to and from work. 2.944445 Average: 2.9 (18 votes) |

In the state Recruit Management System (RMS) add a field that asks whether you are a smoker or non-smoker. If indicated yes, for smoking, Ask if candidate would be willing to participate in a smoking cessation program if ultimately hired. Exposing new employees that smoke to the free cessation programs provided by the Commonwealth would allow them to make a health decision that could benefit them and the Commonwealth. On average 19% of americans smoke, if this average holds to the "incoming" workforce, then the Commonwealth could save millions of dolla 2.666665 Average: 2.7 (15 votes) |

The Hampton Roads transportation issues can be solved through a cooperative effort between all area cities on an extensive train based mass transit system that ties all of the cities together with stops at every major economic/business center in each city. Further mass transit capabilities can be added through alternative fuel based HRT buses. The funding for the construction of the train system could be a cooperative tax between the cities of 3% on all consumer purchases, with the revenues going into a stable interest generating fund dedicated to constr 4 Average: 4 (4 votes) |

Inmates in the prison system should be required to perform the following functions in order to repay their debt to society: 1. Grow their own food and sell the extra at local farmers markets with the revenue being injected into the DOC system. 2. There should be NO CABLE TELEVISION for inmates (in local jails AND state correctional centers). 3. Inmates should be REQUIRED to perform public services on a daily basis such as roadway trash pick-up, landscaping duties at colleges and universities, etc. 4.166665 Average: 4.2 (6 votes) |
